OTTAWA -- Meriton Networks Inc. (www.meriton.com) today announced it has completed its name change from edgeflow Inc. Additionally, the company revealed that its OADX, an advanced Optical Add/Drop Switch, is targeted for metro core networks. The new name reflects the company’s singular focus on bringing excellence, value and merit to optical networks. “Understandably, the edgeflow name led many individuals to think that we were developing an optical edge system, and that simply is not the case. Tier one carriers are interested in our OADX as a sensible solution for their metro core networks,” said Wes Biggs, president and CEO of Meriton Networks. “It makes good, economical sense for us to adopt the new name now, as we come out of stealth mode.”In a separate release:Meriton Networks Inc. (www.meriton.com), a developer of an advanced metro optical networking element called an Optical Add/Drop Switch (OADX), and ExceLight Communications (www.excelight.com), a provider of active, passive, and telecom communication solutions for the optical transport layer, today announced a technology partnership. Meriton Networks becomes a strategic, volume customer for ExceLight’s advanced Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) products, as well as other components. ExceLight’s components will allow Meriton Networks to develop a product with unprecedented cost and space savings for carriers. “Becoming a premier systems supplier to the world’s major carriers is directly tied to our ability to incorporate and leverage best-of-breed technology,” said Alain Brazeau, Meriton Networks vice president of research and development. “We are pleased to be working very closely with ExceLight, ensuring that we offer world-class systems today and tomorrow.”In a separate release:Meriton Networks Inc. (www.meriton.com), a developer of an advanced metro optical networking element called an Optical Add/Drop Switch (OADX), and Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: VTSS), a leading designer and supplier of innovative, high-performance integrated circuits (ICs) and optical modules, today announced that they have formed a technology alliance. Through this alliance, Meriton Networks becomes an early adopter customer for Vitesse’s high speed asynchronous switch fabric and innovative Clock and Data Recovery(CDR) devices, as well as other components. Together, the companies are collaborating to build a product that offers transparency (bit-rate and protocol independence) with all the networking benefits of an electrical fabric for wavelength services. “One of the key design principles of the OADX is its strength as a network element,” said Alain Brazeau, Meriton Networks vice president of research and development. “Through our collaboration with Vitesse, we are developing a new class of equipment – a transparent electrical switch for the metro. Tier One carriers are excited to hear they can get the best of both worlds – optical transparency with electrical networking benefits, such as performance monitoring and signal re-shaping, re-timing and re-generation.” Meriton Networks Inc.ExceLight CommunicationsVitesse Semiconductor Corp.
