CARLSBAD, Calif. -- di/dt, Inc., the technology leader in DC/DC power conversion, today announces the QmaXTM converters, a new line of high current DC/DC converters in the Quarter Brick format. The QM48T40 and the QM48T45 are the first two series of converters in the QmaXTM line, and deliver 40A and 45A, respectively, of output current with minimal derating at elevated temperatures and low airflow. The thermal performance of the QmaXTM converters in typical operating environments of 70° C and 200 LFM airflow is unmatched by any other Quarter Brick DC/DC converter, regardless of "rated" output current, and surpasses that of most competitors’ 40A and 50A Half Brick converters. The QM48T45033 (45A @ 3.3V) delivers 150 watts with an efficiency as high as 93%. The power density of 145 W/in3 sets a new standard for Quarter Brick converter packages. The QmaXTM converters come in an open-frame package that does not require a heat sink. They are assembled with 100% automation using di/dt’s unique manufacturing processes. They have dimensions of 1.45" x 2.30" (36.8mm x 58.4mm), with a height as low as 0.31" (7.9 mm). They weigh only 1.1 oz. (30g ). The 40A and 45A converters of the QmaXTM line operate from an input voltage of 36V to 75V and are available in standard output voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V, 1.5V, 1.2V and 1.0V."The introduction of the QmaXTM converters will accelerate the migration from Half Brick to Quarter Brick converters in new circuit card designs for the Telecom and Datacom industries," said Dr. Apurba Roy, President and CEO of di/dt, Inc. "Converters in the Quarter Brick package need to meet or exceed the performance of Half Bricks to justify replacement of the latter: delivering 32A at 3.3V in a 70° C, 200LFM environment, our QM48T45 Series does just that, while easily outpacing recently announced 50A and 60A Quarter Bricks."di/dt Inc.
