SAO PAULO, Brazil -- CTBC, a traditional Brazilian telecom carrier, today announced that the new-generation Soft-switch Global Service for Mobile Communication (GSM) network, constructed by Huawei Technologies, has been successfully launched into service. The network will provide high quality commercial GSM service for the state of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás.
Based on the Soft-switch GSM network, CTBC will provide multiple services including voice, collect call, voice mail service (VMS), pre-paid service (PPS), virtual private network (VPN), free phone (FPH), televoting, number portability (NP) and black & white list. In addition, CTBC will offer abundant value-added and mobile data services including GPRS/EDGE wireless online surfing, wireless access protocol (WAP), short message service (SMS), multimedia message service (MMS), push to talk (PTT), location-based service (LBS) and video streaming.
In this project, Huawei Technologies also provides high-quality and cost-effective mobile total solution, which enables CTBC to enhance service offerings, increase revenues, while also lowering operational costs and improving the quality of service to their customers. The total solution ranges from mobile infrastructure (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS), data bearing network (core router) to unified value-added service platform. In the future, Huawei Technologies will provide CTBC with UMTS 3G solution.
