Rovi and Cox Communications sign intellectual property license agreement

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Rovi Corporation(Nasdaq:ROVI) and Cox Communications today announced that they haveentered into a multi-year agreement whereby Cox will license Roviinteractive program guide (IPG) intellectual property. The agreementprovides Cox with a license to the Rovi IPG patent portfolio for Cox'sbroadband and mobile platforms, expanding the existing relationshipbetween the two companies that has been primarily focused on theirset-top box platform.

"As consumers look to access entertainment content across variousdevices and platforms, cable MSO service providers are deliveringcontent through broadband and mobile expanding beyond the cable set topbox platform," said Samir Armaly, senior vice president of licensing,worldwide, Rovi. "Our agreement highlights the value of our IPG patentportfolio to service providers like Cox in bringing subscribers accessto entertainment programming information across multiple platforms."
