CorActive introduces broadband anti-reflective coating for its Mid-Infrared Transmission fiber

QUEBEC CITY -- CorActive Inc., an independent manufacturer of advanced specialty optical fiber products, announces availability of a broadband anti-reflective (AR) coating for its revolutionary Mid-Infrared Transmission fiber. The high power broadband anti-reflective coating significantly increases the amount of incident light energy that is transmitted and optimizes the mid-IR fiber beam delivery solution. CorActive’s revolutionary Mid-IR Transmission fiber is manufactured under an exclusive agreement with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and is a commercially available off the shelf (COTS) product.

CorActive’s IRT-SU, a mid-IR transmission fiber product for the 2-6 micron range, is now available with an optional broadband anti-reflective (AR) coating for the 3-5 micron range. The reflectivity of the coating will be less than 1% with a high laser damage threshold. This broadband anti-reflective (AR) coating will increase transmission by eliminating reflection at the boundary surfaces of the fiber.

CorActive’s commercial off the shelf (COTS) products address high power mid-IR optical transmission in the 2 micron to 6 micron range. Utilizing the NRL’s patented technologies and processes, CorActive provides complete cable assemblies that handle in excess of 1 GW/cm2 of pulsed optical power density. The actual Mid-IR fiber exhibits attenuation of the order of 0.2 dB/m and provides very high quality beam integrity. The overall performance of CorActive’s Mid-IR fibers is at least an order of magnitude better than alternative technologies.

An exclusive agreement with the Naval Research Laboratory provides for all commercial manufacturing and future development of the Mid-IR Transmission fiber by CorActive. CorActive is long standing commercial manufacturer of Specialty Optical Fibers. CorActive was chosen for this exclusive patent license due to its optical fiber production expertise, financial security and long term commitment to customers using this advanced Mid-IR fiber.
