MIAMI -- Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC) today announced an agreement to provide telecommunications carrier Convergia with IP VPN, co-location and IP Transit services. Convergia will utilize these services for the immediate deployment of its IP telephony and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) strategy to customers primarily located in Spain, North and Latin America. Convergia also plans to utilize Global Crossing services to provide customers with a converged solution for voice, video and data transmission in the second phase of Convergia's IP rollout. Signed in November, the new $3.8 million contract will allow Convergia to utilize Global Crossing's premier global IP-based network to expand its international reach to more than 575 cities in 50 countries.

The deal, which builds on an existing three-year relationship between the companies, is the result of a competitive review process through which Convergia selected Global Crossing to provide a converged Pan-American data network. Global Crossing was chosen because it was the only provider to offer Ethernet connectivity to a fully meshed, MPLS-based IP VPN network with the global reach Convergia required, and because Global Crossing was able to guarantee 100 percent availability, crucial to Convergia's business. In addition, Convergia cited its customer experience with Global Crossing as being another important factor; the company already utilizes Global Crossing Private Lines, IP and Carrier Termination voice services.

"Global Crossing's MPLS-based IP VPN offering, Ethernet connections, SLAs and reach to key cities are important to us," commented To Anh Tran, Convergia's vice president of global operations. "We are confident that we will provide the very best quality and service available to all our customers."
