March 18, 2002
STOCKHOLM -- Comlase unveils a new type of pump laser at OFC 2002 that givesmanufacturers of optical fiber and waveguide amplifiers new possibilities toimprove their products. Comlase estimates that customers using the new pumplaser can achieve cost savings of 50% or more.Small uncooled pump lasers will be key components for building thecost-effective and flexible networks needed in today’s market, says CarstenLindström, CEO of Comlase. Customers using the new pump laser can achievecost savings of 50% or more and achieve significant reductions in amplifiersize and power consumption. The products shown by Comlase at OFC will include an uncooled 980nm pumplaser in a mini-DIL module. In this laser the patented passivation methoddeveloped by Comlase enables reliable and stable operation over a widetemperature range. In addition to being highly cost effective, this modulealso only consumes around 0.5W of power.Comlase ABFor more information on OFC 2002, please visit: www.nottheofc.com
