SAN JOSE, Calif. -- CoAdna Photonics, Inc., a leading supplier of dynamic optical modules for ROADM applications, today announced the introduction of a new Liquid Crystal-based module – Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS-C100G-1x4) - that enables system providers to build flexible and intelligent optical networks cost effectively. The WSS-C100G-1x4 is the first LC-based module with more than 1x2 fiber-port count that provides both high performance and the reliability of Liquid Crystal. It will be showcased at CoAdna’s OFC/NFOEC’05 Booth #1511 at Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif., March 8-10, 2005.

The WSS-C100G-1x4 is a 5 fiber-port module based on CoAdna’s proprietary LightFlow™ liquid crystal technology, which has no moving parts, providing high reliability and long life. The module offers excellent performance with integrated functionalities of demuxing, hitless switching, power balancing, and muxing in a small footprint; remote configurability via embedded firmware and software; scalability, and extremely low power consumption. The WSS-C100G-1x4 is capable of dynamically routing any combination of wavelengths to any of the output fiber ports as needed.

“The WSS-C100G-1x4, along with CoAdna’s top-selling Dynamic Channel Equalizer/Blocker (DCEB™), will allow system vendors and service providers build and operate cost effective and intelligent optical networks.” said Dr. Jim Yuan, President and CEO of CoAdna Photonics. “We are extremely pleased with the excellent performance of the product and the high level of interest shown from our customers.”
