DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Teradyne, Inc.'s Broadband Test Division today announced that CESKY TELECOM (CT) has placed an order for the Celerity® Service Provisioning (SP) Application for DSL services. The order upgrades their current test system with Celerity Software in over 180 exchanges covering an estimated one million lines. "The Teradyne platform has been a key enabler for CT to meet our operational goals for voice. Extending the Teradyne platform with the Celerity application for DSL was a natural choice to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and maximize our DSL penetration," said Mr. Slovacek, Chief Operating Officer at CT. This order now extends Celerity's worldwide testing footprint to 60 million lines.

CT has been using the Teradyne testing platform to maintain its network since 1997 and has recently deployed over 400 LDU 100(TM) (Loop Diagnostic Unit) test heads and 4 NGTSCs (Next Generation Test System Controllers) in their network. "Integrating support for DSL services on our testing platform is a key goal for CT as we utilize our copper network for additional revenues and leverage existing investments as well," said Mr. Svarovsky, Director, Access Network at CT.

The Celerity SP application uses Teradyne's LDU 100 measurement unit's capabilities located in central office exchanges. The application is used for qualification and provisioning of DSL lines operated by CT. Celerity indicates which lines are qualified for specific DSL services. It also detects the presence of DSL impairments in the case where a line is disqualified.

Celerity automatically delivers accurate test results, by telephone number, to a CT OSS database indicating which lines are qualified for DSL. The accuracy and automated capabilities of Celerity enable CT to reduce the amount of manual effort required and customer response time needed to qualify lines while decreasing the number of lines falsely disqualified. This not only cuts cost and customer response time but enables increased DSL revenues by identifying more lines that are DSL capable.

Teradyne's installed base of LDU 100's, the exchange based measurement unit for Celerity and 4TEL(TM) applications, stands at over 15,000 units worldwide. The LDU 100 performs the core measurements in Teradyne's DSL testing and voice customer care platform.
