Celestica will showcase its Remote Radio Head (RRH) concept for 3.5Ghz at Globalcomm 2006 in Chicago
June 5, 2006
CHICAGO -- Celestica, a world leader in electronics manufacturing services (EMS) will showcase Celestica's Remote Radio Head (RRH) concept for 3.5Ghz at Globalcomm 2006 in Chicago.
The Celestica RRH solution is a fully functional high-power PA, LNA, radio transceiver, TX DAC, RX ADC module assembly that incorporates digital OBSAI/CPRI or SRIO interface to the indoor BTS where the digital base-band processor channel card resides.
Although the RRH can be used for wide variety of BTS deployments, macro-cellular installations are the primary application.
The RRH achieves the greatest benefit when replacing a BTS in a rooftop installation. The limited space available in some sites prevents installation of full BTS equipment, leaving coverage holes. These sites can, however, host an RRH installation to enhance the network quality, helping to increase revenue and reduce churn. As a result, the installation times and costs can be greatly reduced and easier site acquisition/installation can be achieved.
Celestica's RRH concept is part of the company's roadmapped Solutions Accelerators non-productized, pre-engineered and pre-developed solutions that do not compete with customers' intellectual property or market position. The RRH leverages Celestica's depth and breadth of knowledge and expertise in design, engineering and manufacturing for the telecommunications sector. Based on existing Celestica designs, the RRH solution accelerator development model customizes designs and services to meet customers? market-specific needs.
