SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Aruba Wireless Networks today unveiled the industry's first complete solution that lets enterprises securely operate voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN). Aruba's Secure Voice, a new AirOS software module, is available immediately as a free upgrade to Aruba's entire line of WLAN switches.

Aruba has also announced that it is working with leading Voice equipment suppliers, including SpectraLink, TeleSym and Vocera to deliver integrated and fully-interoperable voice over wireless solutions that include VoFi phones, PC-and PDA-based soft phones and voice communications badges.

"To be widely adopted by enterprises, voice over WLAN technology has to mature from its roots in vertical applications to a VoIP-based enterprise solution," said Keerti Melkote, co-founder and VP, product marketing for Aruba Wireless Networks. "Aruba's Secure Voice strategy leverages the movement towards centralised WLAN systems and provides a comprehensive, standards-based framework that addresses all the key elements of enterprise VoFi integration including security, QoS, fast handoffs and radio resource management (RRM)."

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Aruba Wireless Networks today announced that it is working with SpectraLink, TeleSym and Vocera Communications to deliver enterprise customers integrated and fully-interoperable voice over wireless systems that encompass IP phones, soft phones and voice communications badges. The companies have successfully completed interoperability testing and are now working with select enterprises on joint solutions.

SpectraLink and Aruba are demonstrating their voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN) solution, for the first time, at the Wireless LAN event in London. The demonstration highlights Aruba 's voice flow classification (VFC) technology working in conjunction with SpectraLink Voice Priority (SVP) to deliver automatic classification and prioritisation of secure voice calls over 802.11 networks.

"Aruba Wireless Networks has recognised the strategic importance of wireless voice applications in the enterprise market," said Ben Guderian, director of marketing for SpectraLink. "Aruba's WLAN switches offer a unique solution to enabling secure, reliable and scalable voice solutions."

Aruba has achieved some of the highest performance records for voice over wireless by successfully supporting more than 15 simultaneous VoIP calls across a single access point.

"TeleSym and Aruba have moved beyond the hype surrounding voice over wireless and are demonstrating real-world deployment of the technology," said Mike Houston, director of marketing at TeleSym.

Vocera Communications has certified Aruba Wireless Networks' WLAN switches and access points for use with its VoIP communications badges. Aruba is actively working with Vocera to bring voice over WLAN solutions to enterprise customers.

"For Vocera, Aruba is proving that they take the pain out of deploying and scaling voice applications over wireless," said Niraj Jain, director of business development for Vocera Communications. "From our experience with real customers, it's been quite obvious that for Aruba, voice over wireless was forethought, not an afterthought."
