Artem kickstarts UK channel with SPOT appointment
October 4, 2004
ULM, Germany -- Artem, the specialist wireless LAN vendor and part of the large German Funkwerk Group, has appointed SPOT distribution as its first UK channel partner. The announcement reflects Artem's commitment to build a strong UK presence for its professional wireless LAN solutions targeted at markets such as automation and processing, healthcare, education, transport and logistics. SPOT is already a distributor for sister company Bintec, a network access solutions provider.
Artem was established in 1997 and was one of the pioneers of wireless LAN technology. Its ComPoint Enterprise and Industrial family of solutions deliver secure and reliable high-speed data transmission in demanding and hazardous environments. Features include fast seamless roaming with dual aerial and triple radio capability, WPA support and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Other products in the Artem portfolio include Hotspot solutions, access points, client cards, wireless bridges and an extensive range of accessories. Artem also provides specialist services and support including consultancy, site surveys, integration and project management.
"The wireless LAN market is rapidly becoming commoditised with little margin and opportunity for resellers," says Mike Budd Sales Manager at SPOT Distribution: "But the Artem portfolio addresses the growing demand from key market sectors for more complex, robust and sophisticated wireless LAN solutions that many of our resellers are targeting." SPOT Distribution has some 800 active resellers and also provides full maintenance and support services.
"The Artem wireless LAN portfolio ideally compliments the network access solutions from sister company Bintec, already sold by SPOT," said Thomas von Baross, head of Marketing & Sales at Bintec and Artem.
"Artem technology and products are designed and well-proven for a specific segment of the growing wireless LAN market that presents new opportunities for resellers. We are confident that SPOT will play a major part in emulating the success of Artem products in mainland Europe and build a strong position in the UK," adds Thomas von Baross.
