SUWANEE, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq:ARRS) today announced that veteran telecommunications engineering executive Dr. Hubert Wo has joined ARRIS to direct technical operations in China. In his new position, Dr. Wo will provide additional leadership to ARRIS’ ongoing efforts to bring its broadband leadership to the Chinese market.

Dr. Wo brings over 30 years of high-level engineering and management experience to his new position. He joins ARRIS after working several years in Hangzhou, China where he helped UTStarcom build their Chinese R&D facilities. Prior to that, he led the Lucent Multiservice Access Product localization efforts in China. Previously, he spent several years leading the integration, testing and design verification of Lucent Access DLC, HFC and DSL products. Over the years, he has been very active in the IEEE, where he reviewed articles for the IEEE Spectrum Magazine, served as President for IEEE Industrial Electronics Society and was the recipient of multiple honors, including the IEEE Millennium Medal in 2000. He holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, and MS and PhD degrees also in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
