PORTLAND, Ore. -- APCON, Inc., a leading provider of network solutions and intelligent physical layer switches for Fibre Channel, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and SCSI, today announced the availability of POWERSWITCH 6.0 server failover software, specifically designed to add compatibility for Windows(R) XP and Windows Server 2003.
POWERSWITCH 6.0 high-availability failover software solution ensures automated, rapid recovery from system failures and keeps business critical applications and databases up and running. Essential failover protection is provided by POWERSWITCH 6.0 through continuous monitoring of primary and secondary server operations. When a primary server failure is detected, the secondary server is automatically brought on line and data once again becomes accessible.
" Mission-critical applications, such as e-commerce or continuous data replication and warehousing, need guaranteed uptime in order to be viable," said APCON CEO Richard Rauch. "POWERSWITCH gives network managers the confidence of knowing their servers and data are protected and readily accessible. In addition, this high-availability solution is available at a lower cost than alternative failover options on the market today."
APCON's POWERSWITCH 6.0 is also an automated, remote data protection solution, which ensures data and server availability, safety and redundancy. When paired with an APCON INTELLAPATCH physical layer switch, the turnkey platform performs real-time data replication based on remote data mirroring. Fibre Channel technology is used to provide fast, reliable data communications over long distances.
When combined with an APCON INTELLAPATCH Physical Layer Fibre Channel or SCSI switch, the upgraded software package provides a fully automated SCSI or Fibre Channel server failover solution for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. In addition, POWERSWITCH 6.0 supports a drag-and-drop graphical user interface and flexible configuration and recovery schemes.
POWERSWITCH 6.0 works in a cluster of up to 16 servers and can be configured and implemented in a fraction of the time it takes to install a competitive product. Unlike alternative clustering solutions, the hardware and software do not need to be cluster certified, the Windows Registry will not corrupt, and the operating system can be a Windows-class workstation, such as Windows 2000 Professional.
POWERSWITCH is currently available at $1,995 (USD) for a multi-server license and $595 (USD) for an upgrade from version 5.X.
