GLASGOW, U.K. -- Amphotonix, a new company, formed by two ex-Kamelian executives to exploit the ongoing requirement for the world renowned products previously offered by Kamelian, today announced details of the products which will be re-launched under the Kamelian brand.

The initial products to be offered are Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs) and Superluminescent Diodes (SLDs). Gain chips will also be made available on request.

The Kamelian SOAs have an established reputation globally for offering industry leading noise and polarisation sensitivity performance. They are available for SDH/SONET and DWDM applications in the C Band, CWDM in the S, C and L Bands, and for single and multi-channel applications at 1300nm (the original or O-Band).

Versions optimised for power booster, in-line and pre-amp applications are available as are products specifically designed for non-linear research use, and novel sensing and diagnostic applications.

Craig Tombling, COO of Amphotonix said “I was expecting a positive response to the re-launch of the Kamelian product range, but even I was surprised at the number of opportunities open to us from day one. This is especially true for the 1300nm SOAs, where the availability of a low cost amplifier at this wavelength has enabled systems engineers to re-think network design.”
