Altera appoints Danny Biran to head Altera’s product and corporate marketing teams

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced that Danny Biran joins the company as vice president of product and corporate marketing. Biran will execute Altera’s strategy to further develop new market opportunities and effectively communicate and differentiate the company’s industry-leading programmable solutions. Biran will report to Jordan Plofsky, Altera’s senior vice president of marketing.
“Danny brings a wealth of leadership experience in marketing, engineering, and applications,” said Plofsky. “His track record of successfully defining and executing growth strategies will be of great value to Altera as we continue to aggressively capture market share.”
Biran comes to Altera with 22 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He served four years as president, CEO, and a member of the board of directors of Silverback Systems, a privately-held, fabless company that develops silicon solutions for storage networks. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of the wireless products division at LSI Logic (NYSE:LSI). Biran has also held several marketing and engineering management roles at both LSI Logic and National Semiconductor. Biran holds BSEE and MBA degrees from Tel Aviv University, where he graduated with honors.
