CAMBRIDGE, U.K. -- Alphamosaic, the industry leading semiconductor company for mobile devices has announced a major joint initiative with Korea’s foremost mobile game and entertainment developer, ZIO Interactive.

Under the agreement, Seoul based ZIO Interactive will port a range of games to Alphamosaic’s video processor, VideoCore®, the world’s first low power, high quality processor for mobiles – PDAs, mobile phones and smart phones.

This groundbreaking collaboration means that for the first time, mobile device manufacturers will be able to offer customers a package of dynamic, graphics rich games delivered at previously unattainable levels of quality and low power consumption.

“Customer demand for mobile devices that are fully evolved entertainment centres is driving industry developments and the ability to access single and multi-player 2D and 3D games lies at the heart of that demand,” says Alan Henderson, Alphamosaic’s Vice President of Sales and Business Development who adds:

“The challenge facing the industry is to produce games that not only capture the consumer’s imagination, but are delivered at quality levels customers expect – no less than you get at home – and at a power requirement that doesn’t drain the life of the battery.”

With ZIO Interactive’s brand portfolio of market leading titles and its reputation for speed and game innovation, harnessed to VideoCore® as a powerful graphics processor – equivalent to 3GHz ARM – these challenges have been overcome.”

“Consumer demand for high performance mobile devices is rapidly changing. This presents the perfect opportunity for us to move forward with Alphamosaic and their technology VideoCore® in pioneering the 3D mobile gaming world.” Says Mr. Hongsuk Lee, Senior Vice President of ZIO Interactive.

Alphamosaic and ZIO Interactive will jointly market this new industry initiative to phone manufacturers worldwide and Alan Henderson is confident that the first phones using VideoCore® to deliver ZIO Interactive’s games will be available to customers by the fourth quarter of 2003.

“The Asia Pacific area leads the world’s mobile games market and generated revenues of $100 million in 2002. Revenues in 2003 are anticipated to reach $250 million,” says Alan who concludes:

“Mobile device owners, particularly in Asia, represent a sophisticated and demanding audience who will accept nothing less than a great gaming experience. This collaboration between Alphamosaic and ZIO Interactive will, we believe, more than match that expectation.”
