PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) announced today it has been awarded two contracts by Uganda telecom to expand its mobile network "MANGO".
Under the terms of this contract, Alcatel will provide Uganda telecom with its advanced infrastructure, including its EvoliumTM solution comprising of base stations (BSS) and switch (NSS), as well as an IN (Intelligent Network) platform expansion. The solution will also include Alcatel low/medium capacity point-to-point microwave radio systems for short-haul applications, specially designed for seamless integration into any urban environment. When completed, the capacity and coverage of the network will double compared to its current status.
Alcatel's EvoliumTM radio solutions for GSM networks offers operators the best solution for capacity, performance and network quality. Furthermore, Alcatel is strongly committed to considerably reduce deployment, extension, operation and evolution costs for future services.
