PARIS -- Ron Spithill, Executive Vice President of Alcatel, is appointed Chief Marketing Officer. In the scope of this new position, he will be based in Paris. Ron Spithill has been President of Alcatel Asia Pacific since 1995.
Christian Reinaudo, Executive Vice President of Alcatel, is appointed President of Asia Pacific, replacing Ron Spithill. He has also been recently elected Vice Chairman of Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel's flagship Chinese company and a leading Chinese technology vendor. He will be based in Shanghai. Christian Reinaudo has been President of Alcatel Optics since 1999.
They are both already members of the executive committee. These appointments will be effective October 1st.
Ron Spithill joined the company, at that time ITT, in 1962, to hold various positions in Australia, before becoming in 1993 chief executive officer of Alcatel Australia. He became President of Alcatel Asia Pacific in 1995 and was instrumental in organizing Alcatel's various markets into a regional operation headquartered in Shanghai in January 2000. He has been a member of Alcatel's Executive Committee since 1999.
Christian Reinaudo joined Alcatel in 1978 working in the research center at Marcoussis, France. In 1984, he joined the Alcatel Cable research center and became President of Alcatel's production facility in Calais (France). Following his appointment as director of operations for undersea applications in 1995, he became President for Alcatel's submarine networks in 1997. Christian Reinaudo became President of Alcatel Optics in 1999. He became a member of Alcatel's Executive Committee in 2000.
