WALTHAM, Mass., and YORK, Maine -- Airpath Wireless, Inc., the leader in enabling management and roaming for wireless broadband networks, today announced that Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) Ubiquitair has deployed broadband wireless across several islands in Maine's Casco Bay using Airpath's WiBOSS Metro solution. The islands, including Chebeague, Cliff, and Long Island, host thousands of visitors per year and are home to hundreds of year-round residents. Ubiquitair is using WiBOSS Metro to simplify back-office operations such as authentication, billing, end-user self care and reporting.

While there was considerable demand for wireless broadband in the area, it was not being offered by incumbent providers. Ubiquitair, which is rolling out wireless networks all along Maine's busy southern coast, is also providing Wi-Fi service to numerous hospitality venues and Metro hot zones. Additionally, Ubiquitair is providing wireless Ethernet service to Southern Maine residents and businesses at speeds up to 10 Mbps.
