PALO ALTO, Calif. and TOKYO -- Airgo Networks, Inc., pioneer and world leader of MIMO (multiple input/multiple output) technology, the foundation for next generation Wi-Fi, today announced the opening of its local office in Tokyo, Japan. The establishment of this office solidifies Airgo's commitment to the Japanese market and allows the demands of Airgo's rapidly expanding customer base to be met locally. Current customers in Japan include Airgo True MIMO branded campaign partners Netgear and Planex, as well as Buffalo, the largest Japanese retail wireless home networking manufacturer.

Under the leadership of Robert De Martino, President for Airgo Japan K.K., Yoshinori Furuno as Director of Sales, and Eiji Takagi as Director of Technology Applications are responsible for the Japan-based operations. The local team will devote their efforts to sales and account management, business development, and technical and marketing support in the Japanese market.

Recently, Buffalo and Netgear have joined Airgo's growing list of customers, including Belkin, Linksys, Planex, Smartvue and SOHOware, to introduce flagship products based on this revolutionary True MIMO technology that sets a new performance bar for Wi-Fi consumers. Airgo True MIMO-based products are the first and only wireless LAN solutions to deliver 108Mbps in a single 20MHz channel and can take advantage of high-speed connections to the home. In Japan, Buffalo, Netgear and Planex announced earlier this month that they will ship retail products for consumers based on Airgo's True MIMO technology with availability starting the end of February.

"The Japanese market leads the world in advanced digital applications. With the opening of our new office, and support from our experienced local team, we are poised to fulfill a market where the growth of ADSL wireless home networking, HDTV and FTTH demand the significant performance advantages of True MIMO," said Greg Raleigh, CEO and president of Airgo Networks. "Products based on True MIMO free consumers all over the world from the frustrations of their wireless past and let them take full advantage of today's latest high- speed applications with easy, worry free connectivity throughout their homes and businesses where previous generation equipment falls short with spotty coverage and limited speeds. We are proud of our continued global expansion and pleased to have an experienced local team to support our new Japanese customer relationships."
