Agiltron hires David Guo as chief engineer and Jack Salerno as vice president of technology and strategic business

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Agiltron, Inc., a vertically integrated manufacturer of premium fiberoptic components, today announced the hiring of Mr. David Guo as Chief Engineer and Dr. Jack Salerno as Vice President of Technology and Strategic Business. Agiltron’s founder and President, Dr. Jing Zhao, stated that “the addition of Mr. Guo and Dr. Salerno will serve to significantly enhance Agiltron’s products at a time when we are seeing renewed strength in the fiberoptic component market. Their extensive experience will greatly enhance our engineering and market development and position Agiltron for rapid growth.”
Prior to joining Agiltron, Mr. Guo was Chief Engineer at Oplink, where he was responsible for new development product and their transfer to manufacturing. Prior to Oplink, Mr. Guo had similar responsibilities at JDS Uniphase. A 20-year fiberoptic component industry veteran, Mr. Guo has over 15 patents for fiberoptic components that have generated significant revenue. Dr. Zhao commented that “David’s expertise will enable Agiltron to deliver new and differentiated fiberoptic components with improved performance at reduced cost and size.”
Dr. Salerno brings over twenty years of electronic and photonic industry experience to the Agiltron team. Dr. Salerno has held technology development and senior management positions in several business ventures including Xtalight, CVD Systems, NZ Applied Technologies, ColorLink, Kopin Corporation and GTE Laboratories. Dr. Salerno was instrumental in securing the acquisition of NZ Applied Technologies by Corning in 2000. He has a Ph.D. in Materials Science from MIT and is an inventor on more that 25 US patents. Dr. Zhao added that “Jack’s expertise in technology commercialization will accelerate Agiltron’s growth and ensure continued design wins with telecom and aerospace customers, as well as contract engineering OEMs.”
Mr. Guo and Dr. Salerno will host Agiltron’s participation at OFC 2004 Exhibit in Los Angeles from February 24 to 26.
