MUNICH -- Agilent Technologies Inc. today introduced the industry's first integrated WLAN manufacturing functional test system, which enables more efficient testing of WLAN 802.11a/b/g modules to help speed time to market and improve manufacturing yields. Agilent will provide a live demonstration of the new GS-8300 WLAN manufacturing functional test system at Productronica 2003 in Munich, Germany, Nov. 11-14, Booth no. 343 in Hall A1.

The Agilent GS-8300 is a fully integrated manufacturing test system that enables WLAN chipset and reference design manufacturers to spend less time developing and supporting functional test systems, and more time focusing on product development. In addition, automated WLAN tests from the Agilent GS-8300 provide critical feedback on manufacturing quality to help improve yields.

"The Agilent GS-8300 WLAN manufacturing test system, the only integrated WLAN automated test system available today, provides a high level of repeatability and a support structure not possible with WLAN test systems created by in-house R&D organizations," said Amir Aghdaei, vice president of Agilent's Worldwide Communication Solutions Unit. "The GS-8300's flexible, scalable system responds quickly to changing technological and market demands and helps WLAN manufacturers to be competitive and profitable."

The GS-8300 uses Agilent's one-box tester, which combines the source and analyzer in one box, to enable accurate, reliable functional test measurements without the need for a golden unit inside the test rack to set measurement standards. The ability of the Agilent GS-8300 to run two fixtures at the same time helps manufacturers increase throughput and improve asset utilization. The Agilent GS-8300 also offers several fixturing options that provide high-quality RF isolation, multiple test-step capabilities, and multi-interface PCI extensions. Low-cost shielded fixtures, such as the WLAN 6 GHz fixtures, provide excellent shielding, help ensure reliable and repeatable measurements, and support fast line changeover with flexible nest designs. Agilent's flexible, easy-to-use Wireless Test Manager interface software supports multiple wireless formats to help improve overall testing efficiency.
