The Adaptive Spirit Annual Event is a rare combination of networking, giving, and business that has grown to become one of the best events in the telecommunications industry. The event takes place annually in Vail, Colorado, and this year, it kicks off on Thursday, April 7, and runs through Sunday, April 10.

Attendees who want to get in on the Early Registration discount need to do so by Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

This three-day event brings together telecommunication industry executives and their families from all over the country and is widely recognized as one of the industry’s top-ranked networking opportunities. This annual event brings Adaptive Spirit members together to continue the mission to expand and build up the telecommunications industry. Any funds that remain after event expenses are paid are donated to a charitable organization. In years past, Adaptive Spirit has chosen the United States Paralympics Ski and Snowboard Team as the beneficiaries of the funds.

"This year will be a special one for Adaptive Spirit as the athletes in attendance will be fresh off their competition at the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing," said Steve Raymond, Co-Chair and Founding Member of Adaptive Spirit. "Hopefully, they will be bringing not only a haul of medals but with some great stories to share!"

For those who have yet to attend an Adaptive Spirit event, being able to network and learn with your industry colleagues – all while meeting and spending time with some of the most inspirational athletes in the country – is definitely an experience to remember. Attendees to Adaptive Spirit continue to express the value they get from the event - both via their interaction with inspiring athletes and by learning about strategic business practices and new technologies through the educational elements that have been woven into the weekend.

This year, some of the agenda highlights include:

  • An Educational Panel dedicated to communicating with Gen Z: Tech Dependent Generation: Adapt and Leverage

  • An Opening Reception to meet the athletes

  • The Brain Trust Breakfast – Adaptive Spirit’s take on a small room breakfast (25 max) where attendees can connect with top industry executives in a casual setting

  • AS Connections – Cocktails and conversation, focusing this year on sharing ideas to make OTT easier to deliver to customers

  • An exciting and competitive Silent Auction

  • Race Day on Saturday

  • And, of course, the epic closing – the Podium Bash

These popular and unique panels and informal gatherings feature high-profile executives who are shaping the future of our industry. Adaptive Spirit is committed to delivering a great event in which our attendees find value, both during and after the event!

The Adaptive Spirit Annual Event, a major source of funds for Team USA, grew from very humble beginnings.

What is the connection between Adaptive Spirit and the U.S. Paralympics Ski and Snowboard Team? In 1995, CTAM of the Rockies board members wanted to create a signature event that would feature the strength of their organization accompanied by activities that would add value to the industry. In order to maximize the impact of the event, they searched for a "cause" and recognized the need for what was known as the U.S. Disabled Ski Team to secure funding to continue its operation and opportunities for adaptive athletes. The idea for SkiTAM was born and eventually became Adaptive Spirit.

Fast-forward 26 years and the Adaptive Spirit Annual Event has become not only a key networking opportunity for attendees but also huge financial support for Team USA, with the event donating millions of dollars to ensure that the amazing athletes of the US Paralympics Ski and Snowboard Team are able to compete with the best in the world.

"To get to this point, it took the work of countless people who felt passionate about the Paralympic movement - and to better our communications within the telecom industry," Raymond. "With years of supporting Adaptive Spirit through attendance and sponsorship dollars, our members have sent a clear message: this movement matters. We’ve always wanted to make sure this event showcased the athletes but also give you the opportunity to do some networking, business, and continuing education at the same time."

One of the key advancements derived from Adaptive Spirit efforts was designing and developing a carbon fiber sit-ski, used by the Nordic team at the Winter Paralympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. The result was 16 medals for the Nordic team – 15 of them using that sit-ski.

That success is only one example of the countless opportunities derived not just for the athletes but also for the attendees of Adaptive Spirit. The end goal of every event is to focus on building business relationships and effective networking practices in the telecommunications industry.

The Adaptive Spirit team looks forward to another great event in 2022!
