LONDON -- Actix, the global leader in Wireless Performance Engineering solutions, today announced that Dave Wilkinson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Wilkinson was previously Chief Operating Officer of the company.

Dave Wilkinson brings more than 15-years of management and operational experience in the telecommunications and software industries to his new role as CEO of Actix. As COO of the company, he had overall responsibility for product development and the Actix global business. Wilkinson was also responsible for establishing Actix’ sales and engineering organizations in the US and Europe and, as Sales Director, was responsible for all global revenue targets. Prior to Actix, he was a sales executive at ADC Metrica where he won the ADC’s President’s Award in recognition of his consistent over-achievement and major contract wins.

Rob Dobson, founder and former Chief Executive Office, will remain with Actix as Chief Technology Officer and drive the company’s technology vision. Dobson led the company to its current market leadership in wireless performance engineering software worldwide. Under Dobson, Actix exploited the emerging opportunities with GPRS and CDMA 1X in the late 1990s and has been the dominant provider of performance engineering solutions to 3G (UMTS) operators since 2001. “Dave Wilkinson has the drive and experience to steer Actix to the next stage in its development, and I’m particularly delighted that we’ve been able to appoint a colleague who’s held senior management positions within Actix for over six years,” commented Dobson.

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in London, UK, Actix is the international market-leader in wireless performance engineering software. Actix solutions address two of the biggest issues facing wireless operators today: the need to squeeze more out of their existing network investments and the race to generate significant new revenue from wireless data services. Applications include network performance troubleshooting, verification of customer-perceived service quality; competitive analysis and accelerated new-technology rollout. Today nine out of ten 3G operators worldwide use Actix software. In March 2005, the company secured a significant investment from Summit Partners, a leading private equity and venture capital firm.

Commenting on his new appointment, Dave Wilkinson, Actix CEO said: “Being at the heart of almost every mobile network technology roll-out since the early nineties has given Actix an unrivalled bank of wireless expertise. This is one reason why, over a 5-year period when most IT spending has been in decline, Actix has consistently bucked the trend with strong growth in sales and market penetration. Now, with the wireless industry facing a whole new raft of technology issues, I’m confident that Actix can continue to grow by helping operators reduce operational costs and accelerate time to market for their new technology networks and services. “
