BARCELONA -- On February 21, Huawei hosted the Digital Operation Transformation Summit, together with TM Forum, the global industry association for digital business; and Light Reading, a multichannel news and information provider. The event occurred at the Fira Center, Crowne Plaza Barcelona; the Summit focused on advancing digital businesses and driving future opportunities for operators and enterprises through an industry alliance that promotes open innovation and collaboration.
The rapid development of the digital world has significantly changed user behaviour, creating a new pattern of traffic consumption featuring five characteristics: real-time, on-demand, all-online, DIY, and social (ROADS). To deliver the ROADS user experience, operators and enterprises not only need to construct future-oriented infrastructure that ensures efficient operation and agile innovation, but should also focus on the creation of an open industry ecosystem where all players along the digital value chain collaborate and contribute.

These stakeholders shared insights, strategies and experiences in an open and constructive manner around the most critical issues in the digital operation transformation, and agreed to work towards forming an industry alliance to foster innovation and drive digital businesses in the future. Over 30 C-suite executives from top-tier telecom operators around the world attended the event.
Also announced at the event were results from a survey conducted for the Digital Operation Transformation Summit by Heavy Reading and TM Forum. Nearly 75% of respondents said network virtualization will accelerate the design process for new services, while only 20% felt virtualization would make service design more complex. The respondents, representing nearly 50 different CSPs worldwide, also said that the most important impact of digital operations is to create the right digital experience for users – meaning online, on-demand, and real-time access to network services.
Huawei's backbone solution for carriers' digital operation transformation is Telco OS, a future-oriented solution and operation system. It provides a fast response to customer needs through the orchestration of business-enabling functions, infrastructure-enabling functions and a big data engine. It is not only a platform and software/hardware products, but also a strong enabling system which covers the entire lifecycle of telco resource, service and operations management, and delivers ROADS-style services to end users and businesses.
Huawei has successfully helped global carriers benefit from the Telco OS solution and implemented a number of transformation projects for customers, including China Mobile, Orange, Maxis and China Unicom.
