CEO Chat With Ulf Ewaldsson, Ericsson

Steve Saunders
4/23/2015

Many leading communications companies can claim to have undergone significant periods of reinvention during their histories, but none have been through more major transitions than Ericsson.

That's not really surprising, given that the company was founded in 1876 (hand-cranked telephonic apparatus, anyone?). What is surprising is that Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) has not only survived the last 130+ years, but it appears to be entering a period of new found enthusiasm.

What's Ericsson doing right? And what can others learn from it?

To find out the answers to these questions I sallied forth from the Eden of Newark International to visit Ericsson's CTO, Ulf Ewaldsson, at the company's stylish, new(ish) headquarters in Kista, Stockholm.

We covered a lot of ground, which is why I've decided to break the interview into two parts. Given Ericsson's pre-eminent role in the future of both wireless and New IP networks, I would suggest that both parts should be required viewing for Ericsson's customers, partners and competitors.

Njut!
