RICHARDSON, Tx. -- White Rock Networks, a leading provider of next-generation optical transport systems for metro networks, today announced that Broadview Networks has selected White Rock’s VLX2020 Optical Transport System’s to upgrade their core optical network in several Northeastern markets.

The VLX2020 replaces Broadview’s legacy cross-connect systems, allowing better management of network traffic growth, and establishing a new lower level of monthly network operating costs. In addition, the VLX2020 increases hub site aggregation capacity and delivers Ethernet-based services with considerable space and power savings, delivering operating efficiencies that legacy cross-connect systems cannot provide.

“Broadview’s transport network has grown organically and via acquisition, but we are outgrowing it. It was time to increase capacity, replace earlier-generation gear so we can provide Ethernet-based services, and lower monthly network operating costs, especially those associated with co-location,” said Ken Shulman, Broadview’s Chief Technology Officer. “The VLX2020 seems to excel in cost, footprint, consumed power, and ease of operation, but it also provides the TDM and Ethernet traffic grooming and aggregation capabilities that we need to run an efficient network.”
