Turin Networks appoints Dr. Niel Ransom to board of directors

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Turin Networks, Inc. today announced that it has appointed Niel Ransom, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors. “Turin Networks is preparing for the next major step in its market expansion, and Niel’s extensive expertise in the global communications industry will be invaluable to us as we evolve and enter a period of accelerating growth,” said Henry Wasik, president and CEO of Turin Networks.

“This is an exciting time to join the Turin board and I look forward to working with the other directors and the management team as we build a multi-solution company that is exclusively focused on all aspects of the metro access and aggregation market”, said Dr. Ransom. “Our industry is undergoing dramatic change, which with the right navigation, is creating great opportunities for Turin Networks to become a major player in key segments of the metro market.”

Dr. Ransom is a seasoned veteran of the global communications industry, having most recently served as the worldwide Chief Technology Officer of Alcatel, Inc. in Paris and a member of its executive committee. Prior to that, he held various general management roles at Alcatel, including directing Alcatel’s North American access and metro optical businesses. Previously, he directed the Advanced Technology Systems Center at BellSouth. He began his career at Bell Labs, where he led an applied research organization that gave birth to a number of highly successful products in data and voice switching.
