LONDON -- THUS plc today announced an extension to its Demon broadband product portfolio by offering its customers Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) services. SDSL broadband packages will be introduced as part of THUS's new Demon Premier Broadband range, a business-class product suite which also includes ADSL services and introduces, for the first time, an optional managed service level agreement for business critical applications reliant on broadband availability.
Developed as a robust alternative to leased lines or ISDN dial-up services, the Demon Premier Broadband range offers customers a choice of bandwidth, symmetry and configuration options, meaning there is now a comprehensive broadband service to match the differing needs of individual businesses.
With Demon Premier Broadband, THUS is joining an elite group of ISPs who provide SDSL services. However, while most offerings are contended at 10:1, THUS will provide either a dedicated use (1:1) or a very low 5:1 contention ratio on national SDSL services available at speeds ranging from 1Mbps to 2Mbps. Given SDSL's equal bandwidth for both upstream and downstream traffic, the new service is ideal for businesses hosting mail, web or data servers. For example, companies in the media sector are ideal candidates for this service because of their strong dependence on sending, as well as receiving, large data files.
The low contention ratio on THUS's Demon Premier Broadband services makes them the ideal choice for businesses seeking consistent, high-speed broadband performance that is also cost-effective. The THUS SDSL service comes as a complete service including its own dedicated service line - so businesses do not need to give up an existing BT phone line, or have to provide a new one themselves.
"Sending and receiving data is the lifeblood of organisations of any size and therefore SDSL is a highly appropriate solution for many businesses today. However, because so few ISPs offer it, it tends not to be on an organisation's radar. THUS is therefore changing the broadband landscape by adding SDSL to its portfolio," said Nigel Stevens, Product Director, THUS plc. "Adding SDSL service options to our existing ADSL offerings under the Demon Premier Broadband range is a demonstration of THUS's ongoing commitment to offering more than a standard broadband service to all."
