ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Spirent Communications(R) (NYSE:SPM)(LSE:SPT) today announced that it has signed a contract with TELUS, a leading provider of data, IP and wireless solutions in Canada, to provide its CopperMax(R) solution for advanced DSL-based service testing and diagnostics. Spirent is a worldwide provider of integrated performance analysis and service assurance systems for next-generation network technologies. Spirent's probes and associated REACT(R) software modules will be deployed throughout the TELUS network in central office and fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) locations from which high speed internet and other broadband services will be offered.

Spirent's family of CopperMax hardware and its REACT software combine to allow service providers to perform real-time DSL line and service testing and expert analysis -- saving time and money by reducing dispatches and shortening repair times, and ultimately leading to greater customer satisfaction.

With this combination of Spirent technology, TELUS' help desk analysts will have the ability to initiate diagnostics to identify and isolate the root cause of network service trouble. This solution will reduce expensive and time-consuming routing of tickets, testing of circuits by higher-order test centers, and truck rolls. Ultimately, Spirent's solution provides TELUS with the ability to future-proof their investment by ensuring that advanced broadband technologies and services will also be supported on this same platform.

"We have chosen Spirent Communications for the assurance of our broadband access network and to provide a diagnostic solution to be used in an environment where we plan to offer consumer broadband services," said Ibrahim Gedeon, CTO, TELUS. "With the growth of broadband Internet subscribers and to cost-effectively deliver broadband service offerings that meet our customers' expectations, we need a partner who can help TELUS leverage our installed investment to support new revenue sources now and in the future."
