Singapore's IDA Fuels Growth in Broadband & Cloud Computing

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore(IDA) will fuel growth in the telecom market as the government pushes to reach their goal of 90 percent home broadband usage by 2015, according to a new report from Pyramid Research (www.pyr.com).

Singapore: Government Creates Opportunities in Broadband and Cloud Computing offers a precise profile of the country's telecommunications, media and technology sectors based on proprietary data from Pyramid's research in the market. “Singapore has been ranked one of the three least corrupt nations in the world by Transparency International, which has been a key factor in the IDA’s success in growing Singapore’s competitive and well-developed telecom market,” says Emily Smith, Research Analyst at Pyramid Research. In 2005, the IDA launched its 10-year Intelligent Nation master plan (iN2015) to help grow the telecom industry. Among its goals is reaching 90 percent home broadband usage, and Singapore’s national wireless broadband network and the national fiber network are two programs through which the IDA will achieve this goal. “Moving forward, the IDA will concentrate on other ways to grow Singapore’s infocomm industry, including collaborating with industry to grow cloud computing services,” she notes.
