Score 1 for Comcast

Craig Matsumoto
7/29/2009

1:40 PM -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is the main sponsor for this year's San Jose Jazz Festival. Not Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK).

But Comcast used to be the sponsor, and on Facebook , the festival's organizers can't change the name of the event, according to a message they sent out last night. So Facebook users who follow the event get to see the banner "Comcast 20th San Jose Jazz Festival" over and over.

Score a minor victory for cable in the publicity wars. (Also: Web 2.0 FAIL.)

(I suppose the SJ Jazz folks could create a new event listing, but then they'd lose whatever followership, if that's the word, they've built up.)

As for whether I plan to attend... nothing against salsa dancing, but call me when they book Tim Berne.
