RST Picks Moto for GPON

RST Communications selects Motorola for its proven, flexible GPON fiber-to-the-home solutions portfolio

HORSHAM, Pa. -- Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT - News) today announced that RST Communications has selected Motorola's gigabit passive optical network (GPON) solution to deliver new and advanced video and broadband services throughout its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network. RST will use Motorola's GPON solution to drive broadband IP voice, video and data delivery as well as energy management applications throughout its customer base in North and South Carolina.

As a leading provider of FTTH technologies in North America, Motorola's GPON solution is designed to provide new competitive local exchange carriers (CLEC) like RST, with powerful new broadband services for its residential and business subscribers, and enable smart energy services such as remote meter reading. On the video front, RST can rely on Motorola's systems expertise in all forms of IP video service delivery and comprehensive portfolio of outdoor and advanced line of integrated indoor optical network terminals (ONT) to support just about any combination of video and broadband services residential and business customers demand.
