HOUSTON -- Optical Entertainment Network (OEN) announced that PacketFront, the world leader in open access fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology and next generation broadband aggregation, has been selected to provide Active Optical Network (AON) switched network technology designed to reliably deliver Video, Internet and Voice/Data services to FISION subscribers over a single optical fiber. PacketFront's industry-leading switched network services ensures that FISION's network delivers entertainment and data services at ultra high speeds to 1,600,000 potential FTTH customers in the Houston area.

"PacketFront has proven that their AON garners the most flexibility and scalability for our FTTH Video, Internet and Voice solution", said Allen Easty, Chief Technical Officer of Optical Entertainment Network, which provides the FISION service. "PacketFront has a tremendous history of delivering the most advanced routers for the most demanding broadband networks in the world."

The key component of PacketFront's broadband solution is BECST, the award winning control and provisioning system. BECS enables operators to build and manage fully automated broadband networks with on-demand, self-provisioning functionality. This gives households the ability to increase capacity and change services for themselves, cutting out the delay of waiting for a third party to make the changes.

"We found an IPTV partner in OEN that could provide an innovative delivery of triple-play services over FTTH technology in an open access broadband environment," said Martin Thunman, CEO of PacketFront. "OEN has a solid team of engineering talent holding numerous patents in the broadband market, particularly in the development of IPTV-based solutions. We look forward to working with OEN further in the future to continue to deliver the ultimate in tripleplay solution to consumers using FTTH technology".
