Iamba Demos GPON

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- iamba Networks, leading provider of Gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) solutions for the telecommunications industry, today announced the company will demonstrate the iamba iSN1000 family of GPON ONT ASICs, part of the company's GPON Eco-System (iGES) solution, at NXTcomm 2008 in Las Vegas, NV, June 16-19, 2008. In the ITU GPON Pavilion, booth SU6810D, iamba will highlight the company's leading GPON ASICs and software solutions along with other ITU GPON participants in the interoperability demonstration.

Introduced earlier this year, the iSN1000 family includes three ASICs for three types of ONTs: the iSN1000F for Single Family Units (SFU), the iSN1000T for Multi-Tenant Units (MTU/SOHO) and the iSN1000D for Multi Dwelling Units (MDU). The iSN1000 is a part of the iGES (iamba GPON Eco-System) solution which is based on iamba's high-performance, highly integrated SoCs and offers a complete solution for OLT and ONT system vendors. Using iamba's iGES solution, ODMs can reduce the costly product design and move quickly to the production phase and product delivery, significantly reducing time-to-market, development risks and cost.

iamba will be showing a new powerful, GPON-enabled RGW reference design, based on iamba's iSN1000F GPON ASIC and a best-in-breed integrated RGW ASIC, which delivers unparalleled performance for the residential market.

ITU, together with Telcordia, have collaborated to organize a multi-company interoperability demonstration featuring gigabit passive optical network (GPON) equipment built according to the ITU-T G.984 recommendation, including the recently consented GPON reach extender (G.984.6). The GPON Pavilion features live demonstrations of GPON equipment interoperability; with interoperability being a critical enabler to reducing GPON equipment costs. iamba networks will demonstrate triple-play interoperability with several OLT vendors.
