HANOVER, Germany -- Hanover network operator htp is expanding and modernising its telecommunication infrastructure with KEYMILE's Multi-Service access platform MileGate. MileGate is designed to provide voice and data services in exchanges, collocation rooms and cabinets.

Based in Hanover, network operator htp uses its own infrastructure to supply residential and business customers in the south east of Lower Saxony. Strong double-figure growth in the residential customer sector has required htp to expand and modernise its voice and data infrastructure. To respond to this growth, htp chose KEYMILE's MileGate as its new Multi-Service access platform. In additional to the technical features offered, evidence of the system's reliability and flexibility in a variety of reference projects, swung the decision in favour of the platform.

MileGate has a hybrid backplane that enables simultaneous provision of TDM and IP/Ethernet-based services and therefore smooth migration of voice and data services. Thanks to its compact design, htp can very flexibly use MileGate in exchanges and cabinets, as well as offer its customers additional services. MileGate is exceptional for its completely modular and open architecture. The MileGate 2500 subrack has 21 slots, 20 of which can be fitted with line cards in any permutation. For example, depending on the selection, up to 640 ADSL2plus interfaces can be implemented.

htp has spent the last few years expanding its own network. In the region it serves, the network operator can offer residential and business customers DSL connections with bandwidths of up to 16 mbps. htp offers VoIP, but also analogue and ISDN telephone services that are transmitted in MileGate via media gateways to the IP-based core network. Everywhere where the provider's service region needs to be expanded, or industrial estates connected, htp is extending its infrastructure so it can offer its entire product range.
