Xfinity Gets Into the Games

5:20 PM -- Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) is debuting an ad tonight during the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics to toot its horn about "Xfinity," the new brand for the MSO's tech platform, products, and services.

The Comcast name isn't going away... but the services themselves (Xfinity TV, Xfinity Voice, Xfinity Internet) will now be "powered by Comcast."

And if you live in one of the first Comcast markets to get the brand overhaul (starting today in Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Hartford, Augusta, Chattanooga, and parts of the Bay Area and San Francisco), it also means you've got access to new stuff like Docsis 3.0, an HDTV lineup with 100-plus channels, and close to 20,000 on-demand choices… or something like that. We'll let the ad 'splain it…
