NYPSC Sets Verizon Meeting
NEW YORK -- On July 15, 2008 Verizon New York Inc. (Verizon) filed a Network Review Plan (Plan) to investigate and remediate faulty installations of its FiOS product and ensure that future installations comply with its internal methods and procedures (M&Ps) and the National Electrical Code (NEC) on proper grounding and bonding. On August 15, 2008, Verizon filed a Supplement to its Plan, available on the Commission’s website at http://www.dps.state.ny.us/New_telcomNews.html. In addition, Department Staff’s (Staff) audit reports and a letter dated August 5, 2008 on grounding and bonding, sent to Verizon, as well as Verizon’s August 12, 2008 letter response to Staff, are available.
The Commission is considering whether to approve, modify, or reject, in whole or in part, Verizon’s Plan. A Notice Soliciting Comments was issued and comments are due September 22, 2008. In an effort to assist the parties, a technical conference will be held on Tuesday September 9, 2008, beginning at 10:30 AM, in the 19th Floor Board Room of the Department’s offices at 3 Empire State Plaza, Albany. At that conference, Staff will be available to answer questions on its audit findings and Verizon is expected to present and answer questions on all aspects of its Plan and M&Ps.
Please be further advised that Staff will now maintain a FiOS Party List. To be a part of that List a party shall provide names and e-mail addresses to Shirley Rabideau ([email protected]) at the New York State Department of Public Service, 3 Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York 12223-1350 by e-mail or regular mail on or before August 29, 2008. The resulting FiOS Party List will be available on the Commission’s website after that date. All future filings shall use that List.
