ATLANTA -- South Sioux City, Neb., customers of Long Lines, an Independent Operating Company serving more than 100 communities in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, will soon see new communications products and services, thanks to a new fiber optic network supplied by Wave7 Optics Inc. and EMBARQ Logistics.

Long Lines recently signed an agreement with the two companies for a new Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) network in South Sioux City. Wave7 Optics is a leading supplier of standards-based FTTP equipment for residential and business services. EMBARQ Logistics is the deployment, distribution, and logistics division of Embarq Corporation (NYSE: EQ) and serves a vast customer base of telecommunications service providers.

EMBARQ Logistics is managing the project, which features Wave7 Optics’ Trident7™ Optical Access Platform. Last year the companies announced a distribution agreement that will help meet the growing demand from independent service providers, such as Long Lines, to deploy FTTP networks.

Services include a complete triple play of voice, data and RF video, including Wave7 Optics patented RF return. Demonstrating Wave7 Optics’ interoperability with leading systems providers, the complete Long Lines solution includes RF video headend equipment and set top boxes from Scientific-Atlanta, a voice switching solution from Nortel, and an IP digital terminal (IPDT) from General Bandwidth.

"This marks our first foray into FTTP, in which we have become increasingly interested over the last several months to improve our service bundles and increase available bandwidth to end users," said Paul Bergmann, COO of Long Lines. "Long Lines' business plan is focused on building the communication infrastructure needed to attract economic development. The investments we are making in the Siouxland area, such as that with Wave7 Optics, will pay dividends for our communities and subscribers for years to come."
