Javelin Partners Up

9:15 AM -- We've already speculated as much, but Arris Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRS) revealed itself today as the exclusive reseller of Javelin Innovations Inc. 's new line of wideband taps and line passives for the North American and Latin America markets.

Arris, which already distributes Javelin's older 3GHz overlay technology, will now be doing the same for Javelin's new upstream-expanding 1.8GHz "drop in" faceplate modules and full-blown 2.8GHz taps -- products that Light Reading Cable exposed exclusively last week. (See Vyyo Gear Lives On (at Arris) and Javelin Jabs at Gigabit Cable Upstream .)

The 1.8GHz product will be given higher consideration for existing hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) plant since the "drop in" modules don't require any resizing of coax or network rebuilds. The 2.8GHz product is targeted to new builds.

Javelin will be showing off the new gear this week in New Orleans at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo (check our SCTE Show Site for more), so we'll be sure to run by there and see what's what.

re: Javelin Partners Up

one quick thing to add: Arris will begin shipping the new Javelin products in q1 2010.

Also, since it will be a while before we see products that can tune above 1GHz, Javelin's near-term pitch with the 1.8GHz drop in is that it can clean up "potential revenue-generating spectrum fro 900MHz to 1GHz, the frequency range where signals of some legacy taps begin to fall off," according to the statement from Javelin CEO Wayne Davis.
