Fiber to the EuroBlog

Ray Le Maistre

5:30 AM -- PARIS -- FTTH Council Europe 2008 -- Fiber-to-the-whatever is a pretty hot topic in Europe as all sorts of companies -- small city councils, utility firms, competitive carriers, incumbent operators -- plan the rollout of next-generation broadband networks. (See Report: EMEA Set for FTTH Surge, Sonaecom Plans $350M FTTH Build, PacketFront Lands Vienna Deal, and FT Fleshes Out FTTH .)

So we're here in Paris at the FTTH Council Europe conference to hear from some of the operators that have already taken the fiber access plunge, and those with the budgets to do so.

Oh, and there's a bunch of vendors too, don't forget. Should be an interesting couple of days, especially as (I suspect) the GPON brigade will be attempting to dominate proceedings.
