SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- BroadLight, the leading supplier of GPON semiconductors and software, today announced that Askey Computer has selected its BL2348 Residential Gateway (RG) SoC for its new line of high-performance CPE products. Askey is one of the first equipment companies to meet the requirements of leading service providers for a GPON-enabled residential gateway that connects the home network directly to the access network.

"The BL2348's dual core PONRunnerarchitecture is the key behind its high performance, small size and low power," said Raanan Gewirtzman, CEO of BroadLight. "We are very pleased to see an ODM such as Askey deliver a GPON-connected residential gateway that meets the cost and performance targets of service providers."

"The PON market is beginning to follow other broadband markets by consolidating the modem and home router into a single residential gateway device," said Robert Lin, President and CEO of Askey Computer. "Thanks to BroadLight's impressive integration and cost-performance of the BL2348, we were able to deliver this next generation design to market on time."
