ATHENS -- OTE announced today that its installed ADSL ports have exceeded 1,000,000, having more than doubled since last year.

More than 250,000 new ports have been installed at OTE’s ADSL network from the beginning of the year. During 2007, OTE continued to add on average 1 new ADSL port to its network every minute.

Greater emphasis is given to regional Greece, taking into consideration that 1,055 out of 1,180 points of presence of OTE’s ADSL network are outside greater Athens (the region of Attica).

OTE’s goal for its ADSL network is to have 1.2 million installed ports in more than 1,300 points of presence across Greece by the end of 2007, where 93% of the fixed telephony subscribers reside.Currently, there are more than 760,000 broadband connections all over Greece, through which consumers and businesses discover how broadband internet can change their daily life.

Moreover, thanks to OTE’s sustained pace of investments in new broadband infrastructure, two new connection speeds at 4 and 8 Mbps are already available –besides Athens and Thessalonica– in Patras, Rio, Chania, Ierapetra, Irakleio, Serres, Kilkis, Alexandroupoli, Xanthi, Komotini, Kavala, Edessa and Polygyros. By the end of June these will also be available in Rethymno, Lamia, Chalkida, Thiva, Veroia and Giannitsa, aiming to gradually cover major cities/towns all over Greece.

OTE Chairman and CEO, Mr. Panagis Vourloumis, stated: “Broadband remains a top priority within OTE’s business strategy. Throughout last year, OTE multiplied its efforts in expanding and upgrading its network and in improving the level of services to its customers. In this direction, over the last 12 months, broadband connections, both installed and in operation, more than doubled, connection speeds increased while, at the same time, prices decreased. We continue to intensify our efforts so that to contribute to the competitiveness of the Greek economy and to bring Greece closer to its European counterparts.”
