NEC Wins Hungarian Deal

MULGRAVE, Australia -- Delivering on its plans to expand its footprint into Europe and playing a key role in NEC's global strategy to expand its Next Generation Network (NGN) business, NEC Australia has secured a contract with Hungarian telecommunications carrier, GTS-Datanet.

The contract will see NEC Australia initially supply nine NEC AM Series DSLAMs followed by an additional 12 nodes to be delivered and installed by September this year.

NEC Europe's branch office in Budapest has been supplying its microwave based products and services to GTS-Datanet for several years.

NEC Australia's Managing Director, Toshiharu Iwasa comments that "NEC has a long standing relationship with GTS-Datanet. Our aim is to assist service providers to generate new revenue growth in the broadband services market. Working with GTS-Datanet on their DSLAM rollout was a natural next step in our partnership and fits with our plans to increase our footprint in Hungary and further into Central and Eastern Europe."
