DT's VDSL Triple Play

10:30 AM – Berlin – Broadband World Forum Europe – To kick off the BBWF event here in Berlin, German incumbent Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT) reminded us of its high-speed access plans, and announced another VDSL2 supplier contract.

Having chosen Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) and ECI Telecom Ltd. as its initial VDSL2 DSLAM vendors back in March 2006, the carrier has now added Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) as its third supplier. (See Ericsson Lands DT Deal and Alcatel, ECI Land DT Gig.)

This is a significant breakthrough for the Swedes in the DSL world -- now AlcaLu and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. will have to take Ericsson seriously on the European broadband circuit.
