Alice Attracts Suitors

9:00 AM -- Telecom Italia (TIM) 's French broadband business, Alice, has attracted three bidders, according to a report in French newspaper Les Echos. (See Au Revoir, Alice?)

Neuf Cegetel Group (Euronext: NEUF), Free , and Numericable-SFR , have all reportedly bid for Alice. Only Numéricable has confirmed that it has submitted a bid.

It emerged early this year that Telecom Italia was interested in selling its unprofitable French broadband business. Alice France is the fourth largest broadband provider in the country. It reported 882,000 subscribers at the end of September 2007, which is a market share of 7 percent.
