SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fibre access infrastructures, today announced that Kenneth Torp has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales and General Manager Europe as a result of his strong achievements in the Triple Play market in northern Europe. Torp’s sales capabilities have resulted in excellent penetration of the Nordic Triple-Play sector, where Allied Telesis is now perceived as a major player in this new and emerging market.

His promotion comes as part of a sales management reorganisation that gives Maik Lankau, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and President of EMEA, a much broader remit. Lankau’s responsibilities now also include the marketing communications and customer service divisions, as well as service and support throughout Asia Pacific, EMEA and the US. While Lankau remains EMEA President, his additional responsibilities will involve him spending significantly more time in the Americas and in Asia Pacific, underlining the need for more hands-on leadership on the ground in Europe. Torp’s promotion is also designed to fulfil this requirement.

Alongside Kenneth Torp, another promotion announced in the reorganization is that of Singapore-based Fung Ming Yang, who becomes Managing Director, Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand. Both positions report to Maik Lankau.

“We are promoting Kenneth Torp in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Triple Play market in northern Europe,” said Maik Lankau, Senior Vice-President of Worldwide Sales at Allied Telesis. “His consistency and determination are exactly the qualities we encourage and reward at Allied Telesis. I have no doubt that he and his team will make an even stronger impact on our market presence in Europe.”

“Alongside revenue growth, the focus of my new position will be on strengthening our market penetration in the European enterprise and network service provider (NSP) sectors, while continuing to build out our key channel partnerships,” commented Kenneth Torp, Senior Vice President of Sales and General Manager Europe at Allied Telesis. “I look forward to the challenge of achieving these goals with an important facilitator - the broad range, rich feature set, and competitive pricing of Allied Telesis’ products.”
