Bresnan Picks ARRIS E-MTAs for VoIP Rollout

Bresnan Communications announced earlier this week that it has tapped ARRIS's embedded multimedia terminal adapters (E-MTAs) for its rollout of voice-over-IP (VoIP) service. The small MSO is using the ARRIS Touchstone TM402P E-MTA in its digital phone markets. Bresnan, which is introducing VoIP in its four-state region of the Rocky Mountains, said it selected the Touchstone TM402P because of its reliability and battery backup capabilities. The model comes with an integrated Lithium-Ion battery backup designed to provide service for up to 16 hours in case of an extended power outage. "Since many of our franchises are in smaller markets, it's vital that our customers' phones stay on in the case of an emergency or sustained power outage," said Lenny Higgins, Bresnan's senior vice president of advanced services.
