OXFORDSHIRE, U.K. -- Bookham Technology plc (LSE: BHM, Nasdaq: BKHM) today announced that it is proposing to implement a reorganisation and workforce reduction programme, which it estimates may involve a reduction in total head count of 150 people, or approximately 15% of its current workforce. Bookham Technology hopes to achieve the proposed programme through attrition and voluntary separations. The proposed reductions are likely to be concentrated principally in its mini-DIL manufacturing operations and manufacturing-related engineering positions, reflecting opportunities for improving efficiencies in the current business environment. At the same time, Bookham Technology intends to focus its investments and position its workforce to continue to support a rapid ramp up of DWDM products and the continued development of its ASOC technology.
